Safety Code 6 (2016 - ongoing)
Safety Code 6 is named after the Health Canada regulation for RF radiation standards from cell tower antennas. Coupled with Industry Canada standards around the placement of towers and antennas, these two regulatory mechanisms account for why cell towers and antennas are concentrated in specific places and upon specific types of buildings in Toronto. I have concentrated specifically on multi-story housing.
Through observation I have learned that towers are situated mainly on three types of housing: privately-operated seniors' homes; privately-owned rental apartment buildings; and, government-subsidized housing (Toronto Community Housing).
The common thread between these types of housing is that residents do not own their units and are not consulted regarding cell tower placements on the tops of their buildings.
